Bought my 2013 Subaru WRX in Wooster, OH on June 21 2025.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Been loosely looking for an AWD<\/strong> vehicle with a manual<\/strong> transmission since I applied to University of Colorado Boulder<\/strong>. I found this 5-speed WRX<\/strong> in Wooster Ohio, 5 hours away from me. I believe, from factory, it should make about 250 horsepower<\/strong>, nothing crazy but still plenty to have fun with!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having little experience<\/strong> with manual transmissions, I drove up with my cousin Jonathan<\/strong>. When I test drove the car it went very well! I ended up trading in my current car (2018 Mazda 6) and left with Ronda<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

I bought my car a week before I was supposed to go to my friend’s wedding on June 28.<\/strong> I tasked myself to add an aftermarket radio<\/strong> to have Apple CarPlay<\/strong> and Bluetooth<\/strong> functionality,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was the first big soldering<\/strong> project I undertook. I had to wire together a custom wire harness<\/strong> to adapt the radio wires to work with my Subaru<\/strong>. This is the only picture I have from 3 days <\/strong>before the wedding of the work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I completed the harness and had to do the last bit of soldering physically<\/strong> in the car. I also had to run a camera wire from all the way from the hatchback<\/strong>, through gromits<\/strong>, around trim pieces<\/strong>, under carpet<\/strong>, and hooked into the harness. And everything worked!<\/p>\n<\/div>

One day when it was heavily raining, I heard a squeak<\/strong> in my clutch pedal<\/strong> that I hadn’t heard before. I initially chalked it up to the humidity that day because it was raining exceptionally hard and also the fact these cars just make noises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turns out this is actually a catastrophic issue<\/strong> I needed addressed! Basically, the spot welds<\/strong> that hold the clutch pedal in the frame are not strong enough<\/strong> and will break<\/strong> after a while, causing the squeaking<\/strong>, visible movement<\/strong> in the brake pedal, hesitation starting<\/strong>, and long term losing your clutch pedal<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

There exists a bolt kit<\/strong> (this bolt kit<\/a>) from Humble Rumble<\/strong> to replace the spot welds, I had that done sometime in November<\/strong> and never had a problem since. Anyone having this problem needs to get it fixed<\/strong><\/strong>, Subaru<\/strong> did not do a recall!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the end of March 2026, I moved to Colorado<\/strong>! Specifically Louisville<\/strong> CO<\/strong> from Louisville<\/strong> KY<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I set out with Jonathan<\/strong> on a cross country odyssey in a U-Haul<\/strong>. We stopped outside of St. Louis<\/strong>, somewhere in the middle of Kansas<\/strong>, and made it to Louisville<\/strong> on the third day but had to stay in a hotel because my place still wasn’t ready, moved in on the fourth day.<\/p>\n<\/div>
